We are currently looking for an energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable team member for the position of Fraud Investigator. The Fraud Investigator I will work in conjunction with teams across the organization and must have the capacity to identify, detect, and prevent fraud to mitigate loss exposure and risk. This will include making decisions based on a thorough analysis, with sound judgment for resolution and investigations related to fraudulent activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform investigative research in the following areas: document modification, falsified employment or financial records, wire fraud and ACH transfers, online fraud, mobile application fraud, and identified loan-related documentation
  • Review reported suspicious activity and create case management reports for suspected fraud
  • Develop and maintain internal and external business relationships needed to effectively handle review and investigation of potential fraudulent activity and influence the appropriate process and or system changes to minimize risk
  • Establish a means of communicating relevant findings to leadership in a clear and concise manner
  • Document investigative notes and prepares written case summaries in accordance with internal and external policies
  • Initiates contact including interviews with internal and external team members and counterparties
  • Remain current on industry and regulatory matters impacting and related to mortgage fraud trends

What You Need:

  • Certified Fraud Examiner, CFE, highly preferred
  • A minimum of two years within the mortgage industry, preferably in quality control or operations.
  • A minimum of two years experience in fraud investigations and/or red flag audit reviews. Current experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of fraud tools such as LexisNexis, Loan Safe, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong analytical skills and examples of data-driven decision making
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple assignments in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate the results and implications of the analytic efforts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and full Google App suite
  • Moderate Excel knowledge and experience (spreadsheet and database management)
  • Positive attitude with lots of energy
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and take constructive criticism, coaching, and feedback
